HANNAH ARENDT AND THE 20th CENTURY
Visual Art Campaign for Bundeskunsthalle Bonn
As part of the exhibition Hannah Arendt and the 20th Century at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, we designed a large-scale mural portraying Hannah Arendt at different stages of her life.
The mural was realised by Tape That Collective and accompanied by a documented creation process. This performative and open approach served as a contemporary entry point to Hannah Arendt’s thinking, using the act of making as a tool for reflection and dialogue.
The project aimed to raise awareness of critical thinking and the perspectives of the post-war generation, while making these ideas accessible to a young, contemporary audience. At the same time, it sought to challenge and expand public perceptions of what a museum can be—transforming it into an active, living space for discourse rather than a static place of observation.
Public art has the power to transform the perception of a museum as a space and to invite new audiences into cultural experiences and critical thinking.
