Wall Drawing Of David Bowie for Charter School London
A Powerful Graphic Identity for the Music Department of Charter School London
For the David Bowie portrait at Charter School London, we approached the wall not as a surface, but as an architectural trigger—a spatial condition capable of activating identity, memory, and movement within the school environment.
The large-scale image of David Bowie functions as a graphic choreography, relating to human scale, circulation routes, and the daily rhythm of the space.
For the students, the work acts as both provocation and motivation, encouraging an understanding of music beyond the framework of classroom teaching. More than a mural, the installation serves as a learning instrument and a constant presence, demonstrating how visual art can influence atmosphere, engagement, and perception within a built context. At the same time, it establishes a strong visual identity for the school and its music department, acknowledging the work and commitment of those shaping it.
The choice of motif, the wall drawing, and the surrounding graphic elements were carefully curated to create a lasting impact on the school’s spatial identity and the everyday experience of its students.
