GAME OVER

Interactive Sound To Light Immersive Room Installation

GO! Exhibition (Game Over), Nollendorfplatz, Berlin

A creative collective transformed a former gambling hall next to Berlin’s iconic Metropol Theatre into an art exhibition that merged analogue and digital art into an interactive experience — featuring NFTs, multiple live performances, and more.

The interactive room installation, inspired by the exhibition’s title and theme, referenced the experiences of ’90s kids encountering a Game Boy for the first time.

The installation consisted of an immersive supergraphic covering the entire space, forming a Tron-like digital landscape. The interactive setup allowed visitors to control the lighting through sound, using a simple sound-to-light RGB controller combined with a dedicated sound design by Tom Barthels.

By making noise, visitors could activate and animate the artwork. Sculptures by Andreas Arthur Hoferick complemented and expanded the spatial experience.

— The idea was to create a landscape that feels like the inside of a vintage digital machine.
